Following changes in the Biotechnology Act, it is now possible for women in Norway to donate their eggs.
Many women turn to the clinics and say they want to become an egg donor. We are very grateful for that. But it is also important to know that there are strict rules on how this must happen.
Those who want to become an egg donor should familiarize themselves with the details surrounding this so that they know what it entails.
Clinic Hausken has established a dedicated donor team that stands ready to help all those who want to become a donor.
Those who want to become an egg donor should familiarize themselves with the details surrounding this. We have therefore created a useful overview for you here:
There are many couples who want to have the option of fertility treatment with egg donation in Norway — the waiting list is long. Therefore, we are very glad that nettop you may be considering donating some of your eggs. Following changes in legislation, those between the ages of 25 and 34 can now donate eggs to these couples.
There were changes in the legislation in Norway that allow Klinikk Hausken and other fertility clinics to now help couples who want to receive eggs. To do that, of course, willing donors are needed.
You may be wondering who will be an egg donor with us. We already have a lot of experience with it. It is difficult to divide the women who come to us and want to become donors -- they are all ordinary women who, for various reasons, feel a need to help those who are unable to have children themselves.
A good part of the women who come to us have seen for themselves how friends or people one knows have struggled to have children. For many, this became a situation that made it clear how important it is to actually be allowed to become parents if one wishes. Donating eggs became something that was seriously considered.
Other women may not have experienced a similar situation themselves, but feel it as a very good thing to give to others. It is both women who have had children and women who have not had children who choose to become donors with us.
First of all, the criterion is that you are between 25-34 years old. Also, one must not have serious or hereditary diseases.
Clinic Hausken has its own egg donation team. It is this team that will have access to your medical records as an egg donor. If you have been a customer with us in the past, the new journal will be stored separately.
After you contact us, we will send you blood test requisitions. With these, we get information about the status of infectious diseases and hormonal status.
After we receive the results of the blood tests you will be contacted by our egg donor coordinator and you will get an appointment with our family therapist. This class can be conducted via video link.
If the family therapist gives the green light, you will be given an appointment with the doctor who can make a final assessment of suitability. It all sounds a bit strict, but we are glad that the legislation gives us clear instructions on the procedure.
When meeting for class, the doctor does a gynecological examination and ultrasound examination.
Your doctor may approve you as an egg donor if all criteria are met. If you want to become an egg donor, sign a consent form. It is important that you are aware of the possibility that you have to revoke consent right up until fertilization of the eggs.
After registration, you will be registered in the central egg and sperm donor register and Klinikk Hausken will be assigned a unique donor code. All information about you will be deleted from us after we receive the donor code.
You will have a dedicated nurse who will be your contact person throughout the treatment process. Among other things, you will get information about how the hormone stimulation takes place. Syringe instructions and details about the egg extraction itself are also things that you get information about, and you always have the opportunity to come up with crazy questions. It is important that you constantly feel confident in the process.
Approximately 4 weeks before egg extraction, you must take new infection tests and you should avoid unprotected sexual intercourse. If the tests are negative, hormone stimulation may begin.
You will have one or more ultrasound examinations at Klinikk Hausken or with a gynecologist we work with who is closer to you.
After 2-3 weeks, egg withdrawal can usually begin. This is done either at the clinic in Oslo or Haugesund.
There are clear guidelines for financial compensation for those who become egg donors. It is not intended that there should be a financial interest in making the choice to become a donor.
Compensation is 5% of 1G. In addition, you have the right to cover documented travel expenses and medicines used in connection with hormone stimulation and egg withdrawal.
If the donor withdraws consent for fertilization of the egg to have occurred, she may still be covered for documented travel expenses.
We know that there can be a lot of information to take in. But remember that you can always contact us and we will guide you through the process.
