FER treatment - freezing of embryo

After IVF treatment, there may occasionally be embryos left over. Good quality embryos can be frozen and used for a sibling experiment or a second attempt if the first was not successful. The main advantage of FER treatment is that the woman releases new egg retrieval. The woman gets the thawed embryo inserted into the natural or lightly stimulated cycle, and the whole thing is a painless procedure that lasts only a few minutes.

Freezing and storage of embryos:

In the case of a FER treatment, an agreement is concluded for freezing and annual storage. The embryos can be kept until a new attempt is made or until the woman is 46 years old.

Return of thawed embryo:

When you wish to use your frozen embryos, please let us know. The doctor will then review your medical record carefully and you will be contacted by a nurse who will provide further information on protocol and time perspective.

As a few years may elapse between a fresh IVF and a FER attempt, it is important that one signs the FER form prior to insertion. If you are in a relationship, you must both sign and confirm that you both agree to the return of the thawed embryo and that you are still a couple.
