Book an appointmentMicro-thesis is a method of extracting sperm in men who do not have sperm in the ejaculated seminal vesicle due to reduced/missing sperm production (non-obstructive azoospermia).
In non-obstructive azoospermia, we can take tissue sample from testicle to see if there is production of sperm. Micro-TESE gives the highest probability of finding sperm.
A great advantage of the micro-TESE method is that we can also freeze pieces of tissue with sperm cells for later use. It means that the patient undergoes an operation that is both diagnostic and therapeutic.
Micro-thesis can also save time. If additional treatments are required, we do not need to wait for the regeneration of testicular tissue with this method. Thus, treatment can save time from examination to pregnancy (time-to-pregnancy).
If we find sperm in a micro-thesis, we know from experience that there are usually enough sperm for 3-4 test tube treatments.
