Why anesthetis/sedation at egg withdrawal?

Usually, patients are given pain medications before the actual withdrawal and local anesthesia when the eggs are extracted. For the vast majority of women, this works just fine. Some, on the other hand, are so worried about pain or have experienced such severe pain during egg extraction in the past that they want to carry out the treatment under general anesthesia. That's why we now offer general anesthesia to those who feel the need for it.
