Dr. Arne Schwennicke

From as early as 2003 he worked in the fertility department at the public clinic in Haugesund, and became head of section in 2007 before joining Klinikk Hausken in 2008.

Arne has 20 years of experience in fertility assessment and treatment, and since 2023 he has led our Stavanger clinic, where he is the only doctor on staff.

Through continuous professional development he has built a wide range of knowledge, and he is an active member of both a Norwegian and a Norwegian–Swedish expert group of fertility doctors.

Dr Schwennicke has previously been a deputy member of the PGD board (PGD-nemnda), led by the Norwegian Directorate of Health.

His special field is male infertility. In 2015 he spent a period of clinical training at the Department of Urology at the University of Münster in Germany with Professor Kliesch, where he learned micro-TESE, an advanced surgical method for finding sperm in testicular tissue. In 2016 he introduced the method at Klinikk Hausken, the first in Norway to do so, and he has built extensive experience, knowledge and good results through well over 150 of these operations.

Besides his work as a fertility doctor, Arne heads the group of doctors and is also COO at Klinikk Hausken, meaning he has overall responsibility for day-to-day operations.

Dr Schwennicke values efficiency, quality and service in his working day. A well-established multidisciplinary team is key to the wellbeing of both staff and patients. As the clinic's long-standing quality coordinator, he has put in place good routines that secure the core of these elements.

In his spare time Arne enjoys anything to do with exercise and sport. He has played tennis actively for over 40 years and has won three Norwegian championship titles in the 40+ and 45+ age classes. He has run seven marathons and a half Ironman, and has played basketball for clubs in Germany and Haugesund.

Family life, time with friends, training and board games mean that he (mostly) arrives at work well rested and motivated, and can give his full attention to patient care every day.
